1. Open then close door.
2. Using the key in the door lock, turn to lock then press unlock on the remote 3 times within 10 seconds.
3. Open and close door twice.
4. Repeat step 2.

Is this the same procedure when adding an additional remote? I don't want to disable the one I have. I thought I saw this as involving turning the key in the ignition a number of times?? Opening and closing the door?? Thanks!

I havent tried Tads method so dont know if it wipes out previous remotes.

This is from the FAQ

'98 - '02 Isuzu Rodeo and Trooper (with factory keyless entry) Instructions for programming

1. Get in car and make sure all doors are unlocked.
2. Open driver's door and leave open.
3. Put key in ignition.
4. Turn key to 'on position' (dash lights on, but do not start) and back to 'off position' 3 times in 5 seconds or less. (you must turn the key very fast)
5. Close and open driver's door 2 times in 5 seconds or less.
6. Turn key to 'on position' and back to 'off position' 5 times in 5 seconds or less. (turn key very fast)
7. Close and open driver's door the doors should lock and unlock twice after this happens push the lock or unlock button on the remote, doors will lock and unlock. Push the lock or unlock button a second time and doors will lock and unlock again.

You are finished! The above sequence erases all previous codes and adds the new code as #1.

If you are adding a second remote, you should follow the same sequence with the exception of step 6; instead of turning the key to the 'on position' and back to the 'off position' 5 times in 5 seconds or less, do it 3 times in 5 seconds or less and then continue to step 7. ***Remember to turn the key to the on and off position very fast.

ON= just before start position, dash lights on
OFF= all the way off to lock position, not ACC

This VERY OLD thread saved my butt about 30 minutes ago ! I ordered a keyless entry off ebay last week for my 01' Rodeo and they gave me instructions that werent working and i did them exactly by there book . Looked on here and the steps Gizmo put up worked instantly and funny cause the instructions that came with it were worlds apart in how to program it .

I just bought a remote off ebay for $21 and it came with instructions for my Rodeo and they worked first time, The instructions said:

Open the Drivers door and unlock all doors
Put key in ignition and turn to the ACC and Back to LOCK position 3X within 10 Seconds
Close and Open the door 2X within 10 seconds
Turn the Ignition to the ACC and back to LOCK position 3X within 10 seconds
Close and Open the door 1X and watch for confirmation that the locks cycle 2X
Then Press LOCK on your remote within 20 seconds watch for locks to cycle 1X
Then press UNLOCK button within 20 seconds and watch for locks to cycle 1X
Pull Key Out Close Driver door and You're done! Test your remote.
If you leave the driver door open and press lock on the remote your horn will just beep in pattern.

any help is much appreciated

Thanks!

******EDIT********

I figured out how to solve my problm, under the hood i just unplugged the little power leads to the little honker, it does not affect the horn or the panic button whatsoever and I dont get annoyed :)

I got a set of keyfobs and when I do the programming procedure for my 1999 rodeo the locks cycle when I press the button during programming - then they cycle 2-3 times after I hit the unlock button - but after removing the key the keyfobs don't work. Any help ?

Which models have/don't have the keyless entry feature available to program?

I have a 2001 Honda Passport LX 2WD,and was wondering if that model supported it.
There is a Security Light in the dash but to my knowledge it was standard, I worked at an Isuzu dealership in 1999-2000 and all Rodeos had keyless.

Everywhere on ebay used on many different Jap cars/trucks 1998 - 2006ish It is made by TRW or Code Alarm they make 99.99%
of anti theft/keyless for OEM
REMOTE CLICKER HYQ1512R is the FCC #
Just ordered two on Ebay for 33 bucks, supposed to have good batteries but no. New batts and programmed in a snap:

2002 Trooper
Door open and all unlocked
ACC to OFF three times fast
Close/open door twice, leave open
ACC to OFF three more times
Close/open door
Locks will cycle twice, wait to complete Lock/unlock , lock/unlock
press lock wait to cycle lock
press unlock wait to cycle unlock
close door
Works
If not keep trying the ACC to OFF can be tricky
BE SURE YOUR BATTERIES ARE GOOD!
Cheers!

OK, bump to this elder post.

I got a 1999 Rodeo LS recently which does have the security system but no FOB. I got a generic online and am having the dickens getting it to work and even a 2nd one. Both FCC #s HYQ1512R.

I've gone through the program cycles A LOT! The battery checks ok.

What am I doing wrong? Am I not hanging my tongue out in the correct position or something?

Frustrated

Ok I bought a 2003 rodeo I test drove the day before .......so the owner lost the key the day I go to picked it up replaced the ignition won't start with the super chip. Lock smith comes out and his programmer won't communicate with the ECU to get code for immobilizer finally the question I have do you think this will work to program the immobilizer to learn the new key

#24 · (Edited)
There is a megamos ID48 security chip in the ignition key with a code stored in it. There is a code stored in the Immobilizer module (93LC46 EEPROM) security chip. There is also a security chip in the Engine Control Module (ECM).

To start the engine, the code stored in the Immobilizer module security chip (93LC46 EEPROM) and the ECU must match the ignition key code. The locksmith needs to read the code from the Immobilizer module (93LC46 EEPROM) and load that code in the megamos ID48 security chip in the ignition key.

If you can't retrieve the security code you have a 4000 pound boat anchor.

Hope this is the right thread to post in!

I got a 2005 Rodeo earlier this year and the car's been great for what I want it to do. Been thinking I need to get a spare key + fob and of course there's no way of getting one these days. So, I've been looking at the specs and see that my original Rodeo key fits profile TOY43R and the fob chip is on ID48.

Could someone kindly advise me, is there an alternative that would work (to ADD) as a second key + fob combo? Perhaps something from the dmax range or some other generic thing? Not urgent, just like to have a backup in the event I lose my car keys...

You can buy a TOY43R ID 48 blank and have an automotive locksmith cut the key to fit the ignition. Once you verify the key will unlock the ignition and doors the locksmith can retrieve the Immobilizer security code from the original key and copy it to the new key.
The Megamos security chip is a ID48
