odometer not showing

i just purchased a isuzu rodeo, and i went to get it smog tested and it failed. the odometer is not showing, and i dont know how to fix it, it was scanned at auto zone but it didnt show if it is a sensor, or a buld and i need to get it done so i can complete my registration. any idea where i need to start so i can get this done?

i know nothing about vehicles

Digital, I'd assume? Might be a failure of the speedo head itself. There are shops that can repair instrument clusters with that kind of problem. But 1st lets see what rig you got.

Depending on your year and problem, a working used gauge cluster may also be a viable option.
