I would think that they are all they same drive train, and the only diffidence would be the options.... but i could be wrong... can i get a second opinion ?

 

As far as I know Jeremy is correct, no difference in drivetrain, just interior options.

 

so Audacity, I see you have Warn Hubs on your 86' Trooper, is the model number : 61424?

 

the axils are the same in all models in 86, even gas to diesel

the only difference is the starter is on the other side of the trans for the diesel.
but the guts of the trans are 100% the same gas/diesel

there are no other differences in the drive train, not even the clutch. its the same part NO.
