How much limited slip differential additive?

Wanting to change out the rear differential fluid in my '99 Trooper. How much limited slip additive should I add? A lot of what I've seen comes in 4oz bottles and I've heard that you add one bottle. I did see one reply from Jerry Lemond to add two bottles. Any suggestions?

Typical suggested ratio I have seen from generic additive suppliers is 1oz additive to each pint of lube, so 4oz to 2qts of lube. I don't know the capacity of your differential, if more than 2qts then you need more than 4oz. This is also typically about the ratio used in pre-packaged LSD-compatible lube, which is probably the easiest & cheapest way to change the lube, just drain & re-fill with lube with the additive already added. The cost of the additive plus plain lube is at least as much & usually more than the same amount of the pre-packaged stuff. Too little additive makes the clutches grab & chatter, too much makes then slip more & act more like an open differential. Whichever method you use you can always go back & add a bit of straight additive if you thick you need more.

I used one bottle on my old 99 Trooper with no issues. Start with one bottle and see if you have any chatter.

I've always just run the lube that has it already in it. I've had no chatter issues ever.

That and I run Dino oil not synthetic. Synth can be so slippery it causes chatter problems.

Looks like the capacity is 3.2 quarts so according to the recommendation I'd need a little more than 4oz.
One source I found says 3.8 pints, 3.2 quarts sounds like too much.

I did 8 ounces of the GM additive in mine when I put the LSD in along with royal purple gear oil with the additive in it. Then did figure 8's for a while to get it all sloshed around. No issues at all. When I change it out in the spring, it will just be the RP with the additive. The two 4 ounce bottles were what Jerry suggested for a new LSD.
