Alignment check after torsion bar lift?

Postby Duntov » Tue Sep 15, 2020 1:40 pm

We just got our 88 2.6 5 speed back on the road and so far so good. Brand new tires, new bearings, new hubs, new brakes and we leveled the rig by lifting front with the torsion bars.

I have no reason to suspect anything wrong with alignment, but I remember that the bars can throw one of them off. I'm not an alignment guy but my neighbor is setup to work on it (lasers and stringlines). What exactly needs to be adjusted after the torsion bar adjust?

Camber and toe are both effected by a torsion bar lift.

Even the hubs are manual now.

Yes, definitely align it before much driving. You can wreck the tires in not many miles.

Home rebuilt 4L30E doing great. Aux cooler and temp gauge. Big thanks on the rebuild to Buster28, Jerry (jlemond), CalG, and others.

Yes, I did the upper ball flip to and thought I could go a few hundred before I did

The toe finished my p/s box, way to much resistance on turning
