dome light

Postby thumper » Tue Feb 09, 2021 12:01 am

Has anyone put an after market dome light in? I thought it would simple but it's not. Wired the light to a 12 volt battery and it works fine. Four wires come out of the factory dome light. I've tried testing them with the key on and none show up positive. I don't get it. 95 Isuzu pickup

Did your factory dome light work before the attempt?

aren't the extra wires for the switch ? (ON, DOOR, OFF) There's a also a fuse.. I would test with the door open .... I changed my bulb 2nd gen to a LED array that came with a bulb adapter ...

There should be a constant +12v

there is only one B+ wire which is always hot. One wire is a ground wire for the on switch, the other wire is also a ground wire for the door switch.

When I first disconnected the factory light I thought there were only two wires but when I started testing I seen two more wires in a loom with what looked little fuses but they don't come apart. I am going back at it when I take my gran daughter home today and try a different ground set up with the new plate. The wires coming out are green and red and green and yellow. Thanks for info so far. Oh yeah, the light only worked sometimes before. I don't have lights in the doors.

As far as I know there should only be two wires. One 12v and one switched ground from the doors.

I have the same issue - no 12V power at the dome lights. Trying to trace the wiring and not sure which fuse it's connected to. All the fuses are good, so it must be a wiring issue. Is the dome light 12V connected under the driver side dash somewhere?

Is there not a fuse marker "dome"?

This is interesting. All of the interior lights on my 88 trooper worked like a charm, door switches and all. Now they don't work at all.

One of the things I need to troubleshoot but too many more pressing issues to deal with first.
