Just got an 86 P'up auto 3 speed, getting 36 mpg. That seems pretty good for 3 speed, it needs another gear. My first post.

1986 2.3 P'up, How come my carb has no gas/air adjustment screw? Is there a carb to replace it that has one? Thanks

It does, it's just blocked by an ''anti tamper" plug. There may be either a solid round plug (about 3/8") or possibly a hole with a dowel through it on the passenger side of the carb base (I had an 87 2.3 Trooper and an 87 Suzuki Samurai and that's what was there for tamper proofing - I just don't remember exactly which was which after 24 years)
The round plug can be removed by CAREFULLY drilling a small hole, threading it, installing a screw and pry out (careful to not drill too deep and damage ide mixture screw). The dowel type requires removing the carb, and possibly the base (or brutality with a small chisel  )
If you are in a non emissions area, a Weber replacement carb with adapter is a possibility, but If I were getting 36 MPG, I'd count my blessings. Dennis

I did notice that the spot was plugged, I will drill it out. The glitch will be to get the correct length screw/spring. Thanks
