I just realized that I only put the pics of the new seats and console on facebook but not on here. These were put a couple of months ago but better late than never. Hopefully with Lou being off for a few weeks over the holidays he can get Sanchez closer to being drive-able again.

Nice! What vehicle is that console from? I need one for my Migo! Especially like the CB in the E-brake slot!

It came out of a newer rodeo, not 100% sure on the year (Lou could probably pipe up with that tidbit of info). There are also consoles in rodeos with a thicker padding on the top but all the ones we kept finding were ripped up. Fairly easy to mount into the Amigos and gives some much needed storage space!

Just some pictures of the most obvious progress we made this weekend on Sanchez. Went and got some 285x75x16 BFG KO2s put on the flakes. Also got the brakes sorted out and got the timing and the three leaky oil seals replaced on the front of the motor. Still have a few things to finish up but hopefully can have it ready to at least show up at Uwharrie for the meet on the 30th in two weeks.

Here's a couple more pics from our work this past weekend. Had to use a torch to get the front wheels off, they were wedged onto the hubs. And look at that paracord engineering holding the e-brake cables together!! There's also a soup can in the exhaust, but no pic of that, sorry!

So, as you can see in the above video....Sanchez is ALIVE!! Got her all put back together and she wouldn't turn over. We replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and plug wires before finding the real issue. Here's is Lou's explanation of the problem......

I didnt pull the distributor but I did change the plugs, wires, cap, and button. Well since I was going back all new, I just pulled everything off at once and didn't pay attention to the fact they had the plug wires on wrong. Apparently the last person who wrenched on it had pulled the distributor, put it in wrong, and in order to make it run, just switched the plug wires. When I put everything back together, I put the plug wires to the correct cylinders according to the firing order like I always do, not knowing the distributor was in wrong. Last night when I got home after having a day to clear my head, I checked the engine timing to make sure it wasn't off a tooth like people had suggested and of course it was good. Luckily though, I had the upper timing cover still off when I decided to make sure something wasn't funky inside the distributor. As soon as I pulled the cap I saw the rotor button pointed to the wrong contact. I went and checked the old cap and wires and figured out what they had done. Instead of continuing with their lunacy, I pulled the distributor and put it in correctly. Fired up on the first try. Lesson learned though, just because I didn't pull something, doesn't mean someone else didn't.

285/75r16

As for the bed liner I think it's just a rattle can variety, but maybe not. Kate & Lou are out at URE, when they get back they can clear it up better.

Not sure what brand of bedline was used before but we used the aerosol version of Dupli-Color Bed Armor. I sprayed a few coats on the damaged areas and then did two coats over the whole thing to make a nice even coat. The tires that were on the crappy nissan wheels in the first photos were 235/75 r15s but I do not recall the brand of them. The new tires that are on the 16" flakes are 285/75 r16s and are BFG AT KO2s.

Postby troopergal00 » Thu Jun 09, 2016 9:13 am

Just wanted to add a couple of poser pics of Sanchez at the top of Daniel from a couple of weeks ago. This was my first time taking it off road and I wanted to kill my husband for making me go up the backside of Daniel for my first trail of the day, but it was really fun and it did really well. I was supposed to wheel it the next day as well, but a burst power steering line had Sanchez sidelined that day. The line has since been replaced so hopefully Sanchez will be on a trail again in the near future. :)

ur right it's also a matter of personal taste/preferance......I'll take the big window door all day every day, I like the mirror much better. It's bigger, & the glass moves in the housing not all 1 piece, my all 1 piece spacer mirrors are heavily affected by the wind.....most importantly tho with the big window.....there's no little triangle window to worry about sealing.

Old post, I know, but.. Do you know if it is just as easy to convert from big window to vent glass style? I like the look much better, and have both styles, but the older doors are rotting at the bottom.. so door swap is probably not a good idea. I was planning on pulling the doors apart for closer inspection, but if somebody already knows...

Been awhile since I have updated here. Back in September Sanchez decided to blow the head gasket. It was down for a couple of weeks until my husband had time to do the job but we got it done and it runs better than ever. Last weekend we went to URE with it and Shaggy was kind enough to be my co-pilot and give me some pointers on how to get Sanchez over the obstacles out there with ease. My husband took the video of me coming up Dutch John for the first time in it.
