Ryan,

This thing looks awesome!! I love your attention to detail. I don't think I have seen a "back half" job done so neatly. It would almost pass for a factory model option.

Keep it up and hope to see you again one day. Maybe you and yours can make it down for one of our George Washington National Forrest weekends west of Harrisonburg, Va.

Thanks Mike

I really wanted it to be factory-ish.

I know it will be a 20 foot car, but still, no one will notice as it is driving past on or off the road.

Ryan I'm real impressed. I've thought it would be cool to make a Trooper pick up since I saw one in a classified somebody posted up with an Aussie style aluminum bed. Yours looks great. One pic you have of it in the drive kinda reminds my of an old Scout 600 with a 1/2 cab. This is so much cooler than a hack the back window of 4dr job. You've got a real usable pick up.
My builds are dead without the pics photobucket was holding hostage. The pics have been deleted and so have the links from my sig.

Jealous, very jealous, and keeping a garage clean does not equate to body work.

Just an update, nothing has happened in the last year or so. I built a garage for both trucks to call home and am working on updating the house out of the 50's.

I am working on tiedowns for the outside of the bed to weld on, and tehn the rest of the truck has to be stripped down for bodywork to begin as everything is welded together.

Did you ever have any luck getting those 5.12s to work?

No... I left everything with Matt at Independet4x. It was a hard day walking into the house with no money in the pockets and no parts in the truck.

they worked fine in the 10 bolt, but you could not use them in US spec modified 12 bolt carriers. You could get spacers custom fabed to fit the modified 2 bolt, but you would never be able to get them on an ARB carrier. So I did not spend any more money since I want a rear locker.

Yeah I remember hearing that you weren't able to use the rear ARB. Sad you walked away from them though. Perhaps get him to make your a spacer and weld the rear axle. The modded 12 bolts are large enough I highly doubt you'd have any problems breaking anything.

Update, like 8 years late...

So I sold the vehicle to RedCube, who did some work on it and ran it on the road for a bit! YAY.
https://www.planetisuzoo.com/viewtopic. ... go#p738420

He then had an engine issue and it sat for the last 3 years or so.

About a month ago, I bought it back, non-running, and its now taking up space in my garage.

Time to get it back up and running and then get it back on the road.

Alrighty... The Trooper is up and running again...sort of. It starts initially with some effort. but then runs like a champ while in drive. Loose connections, uncapped vacuum ports, and some grounded wires.

I have her in the shed now and will be starting the body work next weekend. Lots of sanding down and bodyfiller work to go, but it drove to the hardware store and gas station today.

I will hopefully get an update out next weekend after some work!
