New 2001 Isuzu Wizard (Rodeo)

Postby andy_sykes » Wed Jan 13, 2021 1:12 am

Hey everyone!

I've been driving a beater for the last couple years looking for my perfect truck. Back in December I saw this gem on goo-net. For those that don't know, in Japan and Australia the Rodeo was sold as the Wizard. Since they are called badged Wizard here in Japan, I thought I would name him Merlin. Let me know what you think!

As you can see in the second photo, it only has ~23000km. That's just over 14,000 miles in freedom units! When I worked it out, that comes to slightly less than 60 miles per month on average!!!!

I ordered it last week, and it's scheduled to arrive on January 25!

My first change is going to be adding a hitch member. (I have another car I need to tow to a shop to work on, but I can't leave the other car at the shop)

Next will be a roof rack for a surfboard/SUP.

I also dive a lot, so any recommendations on keeping the rear cargo area clean would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks all!

Looks brand new, like it just came off the showroom floor. Guess that's why we have JDM parts, especially engines, from Japan where older cars don't have very much miles on them before there scrapped.
1990 Amigo, 2.3 5 speed (sold)
1991 Pick up (long gone)
2000 Amigo, 2.2 5 speed(sold)
1985 Trooper 1.9 4 speed (sent back to KS)
1989 Trooper RS 2.6 5 spd. Red

We get too soon old and too late smart!

Wow look at that Wizard. Might as well be brand new! Keep us all updated with photos. Are there any cool Wizard specific parts you could show off? I see there is a third mirror on that front quarter panel, why the extra mirror?

Looking good!

No parts specific that I'm aware of.

I pick it up this morning! I'll definitely post my own photos once I see it.

As for the mirror, those are quite common on larger cars in Japan. There's lots of small roads and right turns. So it gives you a good view of your front passenger tire.

I've had cars before with them, but never anything I've taken off road, so I'm interested to see if it's helpful
