Is this a personal purchase or a department? Regardless who scores a fire apparatus for $2000?!?! Pretty sweet.

for personal use on my acreage. been slowly gathering parts. will be doing a full tune-up & cooling system flush, as well as heater core shut-off valves...it gets very toasty in the cab, currently no hot water shut-off to heater core.
installed 7'' round hella glass lens headlamps and led bulbs. way more light down the road. also changed out the cab markers to led, and my son changed the rear markers to led. got door keys cut for it. picked up some hose and various adapters.
a little at a time.

insurance would be $2300 a year.....
will drive these until they quit and move onto something else.

Hit your homeowners insurance agent up and see if you get a premium break for having a fire truck on the premises.
... No idea, probably not, but if you get a break for being near a fire hydrant...?

Any reason to insure it if it stays on your property?

If I was your neighbor I'd be throwing money into the insurance kitty in case the STHF again so my property had another layer of protection.

Such an awesome score! How fast does 1000 gallons get used up?

Do you have grandchildren that visit? Small ones?

If so, do your sanity a favor and disconnect the siren.

the siren is fairly involved to get it to work- main power, then controller power, then 2 knob positions. then there are push buttons.... one button is for the work lights, one button for the p.a (damn microphone is missing) another button for electric fuel pump (in case the manual pump fails) and the 4th button for the compartment lights.

no grandkids yet, but everyone else wants to flip the switch for sirens and lights! you know it!!

the ground was frozen enough that I could move the truck easily into the shop. changed out both t-stats ( again) this time to the proper style, but lower temp (160*) than the spec 180* that I put in there- it was running at the end of the temp gauge, hotter than when I first got it and put new t-stats in.

the t-stats that were in it at first were the wrong style, 160* temp- the truck ran about 3/4 for temp, when it was almost 40*c outside
the proper temp t-stats are 180*, I tried those but the truck ran way too hot. WAY TOO HOT.

rad/ cooling system was just flushed, rad is almost new, clutch fan looks new...but that don't mean squat-

now to go for a test drive, then back in the shop, swap out more bulbs to led bulbs or lamps.
will drive these until they quit and move onto something else.

filled it with water, threw the caps on the pump and fired it up ! wow the tank empties fast without a nozzle on the 2'' hose
need some pipe couplers, so i can attach a nozzle to the hose....but it still shot water 100 feet no problem-and the tank was empty rather quickly. the kids enjoyed trying to hold onto the firehose....as much as they could..

i fire it up once a month, do a systems check....today we flooded some gopher holes with it. re-filled tank and parked back in its spot. damn that 429 runs good. starts every time, no issues.

Oh wow, not only is the whole thing cool, it just LOOKS great. I dig that retro cab, then the team compartment behind.

That's cool.
1998 Acura SLX. OME 929s and front crank, KYB tubes. Retro'd Aisin manual front hubs.
Home rebuilt 4L30E doing great. Aux cooler and temp gauge. Big thanks on the rebuild to Buster28, Jerry (jlemond), CalG, and others.
Factory(US dealer) side steps and roof/ski rack (Yakima).
