Well my first update is not what I hoped. My mechanic called and tried to talk me into scrapping the whole idea...he says the truck needs everything!
On the bright side, we got it running, and no funny noises.
But the tranny lines are shot, as well as all the other lines and hoses. The truck sat in buddy’s yard for 7 years...
Ill try to post some pictures soon

I guess it’s how you look at it. I’ve wanted one for a long time, but never been able to make it happen. So when I saw this one, crawled under it for 45 minutes and couldn’t find any frame damage, I figured its good.
Paid $650 cash, but had to tow it home, that was almost $1000.
Put a new battery in $125, dropped the tank, rebuilt the fuel sender, got a new pump $50, and now it runs
Put new tranny lines on, but now we have a gas leak, and my mechanic is pissed off at me. He thinks I should scrap it, but he doesn’t understand this is a build!!!
When I can post pics, and get on a different thread maybe, I’ll likely be looking for help with sourcing parts and wiring schematics, but for now, it’s baby steps.

Sounds like the same thing I'm going through. People don't understand that I bought a $500 Trooper to build it, so replacing parts along the way isn't that big of a deal. However, this is my second $500 Trooper. I didn't do my due diligence checking out the first one and it turned out to be too much of a wreck to deal with. Good luck.

That can be pretty much it, I remember having same problem with posting shortly after registering, some anti-spam safety feature I guess.
As for your Trooper, congrats for the buy! $560 sound like a decent price, and healthy frame is a good base. I'm all for rebuilds and mods and resurrecting cars, but if you don't do the majority of the job yourself, and need a mechanic instead, this might be a costly business for you!
