what was the first year GM started building the rodeo? before then...was it japanese made?

the 91 and 92 Rodeo has the 3.1 GM engine. But the trucks were make in Japan. The 98-04 were made in Indiana.

how about the 96 rodeos?

look at the tag on the driver side door jam. That should tell you where it was made. If it says something about MFD. FUJI HEAVY INDUSTRIES then it was made in Indiana. Im not shure how they are labled as both my truck were Japaniese...

My 1992 Rodeo LS V6 3.1L 4x4 was built in Indiana (Subaru-Isuzu facility).

The only contamination, as already posted, was the engine in some, then the drive train in others

Of course, that's tempered by the fact that GM has ISUZU engines in it's Duramax stuff 8) AND seems content to rebadge ISUZU NPR and FFR (?) class trucks with the GMC and bowtie logos. :wink:

Yep. Rodeos were built from day one (1991?) at Subaru-Isuzu Automotive in Lafayette Indiana. That plant is now called Fuji Heavy Industries since they will be only building subarus there starting in July. Fuji is the parent company of subaru. IIRC- the late 1980's to 1991 Isuzu Amigos were built & shipped in from Japan. Troopers and Vehicross's were always a full Japanese import.

So is 100% of the Trooper made in Japan or is the 3.5L engine still GM?

The 3.5 is Isuzu, NOT GM. The Trooper has never been made in the US.
