Gents in the ongoing saga of working through my 88 2.6 I've encountered a new problem. Some may recall I rebuilt the engine and then had a HG let go after ~4000 miles. Replaced that and everything seems fine other than this issue.

So I'm driving along with the headlights on and the wipers on and as I came to a slightly harder than usual stop, the radio frizzed out, CEL light came on and engine died. Cranked it back up with the accessories off and the engine ran fine and CEL light was off. Its happened a couple of times since with the CEL coming on momentarily but the engine did not die. Light goes off after a few seconds. Its also happened when I hit a decent bump in the road. Alternator and battery are new when the rebuild was done.

Sounds like a bad connection perhaps? Appreciate any input on areas to check out.

BTW does the computer store the CEL code even if the light is not on?

Thanks

Check the electrical all around the battery box including the fusible links in front and the ground cable battery to ground to engine. Dennis
