My trooper is missing a couple panels (i think) Seems like most of these from this era do not have these? At least most of the pics I can find. Did they just frequently get lost? or were they simply not included on some of the base models?

My truck is 1986 LS... the under dash pics here with no panels showing are from my truck... the pic with the red oval shows the missing panel... I found this pic on this site in another thread... it is also a 1986 LS.

So I need this panel, and the passenger one as well.

Thanks everyone.

I believe I have a small brown trim piece that covers the metal bar below the glove box. Besides that my 89 trooper doesn’t have any additional paneling compared to what’s shown in your vehicle.

I don’t think I’ve seen that panel piece shown under the steering wheel in any of the troopers I’ve seen at junk yards either, none have been 86s but maybe these panels were not common.

If you want the small trim piece I mentioned, shoot me a PM and I can send it to you for just the cost of shipping.

My trooper doesn’t even have the vinyl covering over the kick panel that yours does, its just the bare painted metal.

you're correct that there are pieces that attach there, I found two gray ones last weekend in the junkyard,
they are not for sale but I wanted to confirm for you that the pieces do in fact exist. They attach with two clips as pictured, then a 10mm bolt on the side.
Here is a picture of the passenger side one.
