I have started using the Valvoline Restore & Protect in my 1996 Rodeo with the 3.2L SOHC motor with great results. From my research online this oil can remove deposits and varnish from inside the engine. They even claim in the fine print "Up to 100% piston deposit removal in 4 consecutive oil changes. A few youtube channels along with the motor oil guy have tested it and sent it for lab testing with great results.

I have had similarly great results in my SOHC 3.2. Of course it has the tick which is going to be fixed soon but this oil has cleaned out my oil pressure relief valves very well. With new oil I would only get full pressure sometimes due to the stuck valves but now im getting pressure about 60% of the time which is a vast improvement. I took the borescope down the valve cover and the inside of the engine looks great. I did have the heads cleaned about 50k ago but even so they look brand new still.
I think this is a great oil for the 3.2 SOHC and I would love to see someone with an oil burning 3.5L try it out and see if it can clean those piston drain holes. It might just be the oil the 3.5 needs to get cleaned without taking the engine apart.
Right now it is $30 at Walmart and there is mail in rebates for a lot of other places. Highly recommend and would love to hear other peoples experiences. I was running the Mobil 1 0w-30 before.
