I bought 3 gallons of restore & protect. I gave up after the engine drank all 3 gallons before the first oil change. A quart every 250 miles, that's 12 quarts in 3000 miles. I went back to Rotella until I can open up the engine and fix proper.

Yours burns so much the rings must be really "coked" up. You might benefit from trying a dose or 2 of Mercury Power Tune which was specifically developed to clean carbon deposits off the rings of 2-stroke outboards. I see no reason why it shouldn't do the same thing to a ZuZu V6!

Looks like Cabelas has it cheapest at $13.99 so if you have a local store, that's the best bet. Otherwise West Marine has it for $15.99.

An alternative to Power Tune is OMC Engine Tuner spray, around $20.99 at Amazon.

With this engine, you'll want to spray the cleaner into a vacuum line or intake tube hose, until the exhaust is smoking profusely.

Then shut it off, pull all spark plugs, empty the contents of the can, divided among the 6 cylinders. Let sit overnight. Before reinstalling plugs, crank over the engine just a bit to avoid any potential of hydrolock. Install plugs, coil packs, then take it out and drive like mad! Get 'er up to speed on the freeway. Gonna smoke a bunch when you first light it off.

At any rate, you can also use a carbon-cleaner in the fuel. Gumout Regane has a high level of carbon-cleaner PEA which is the same stuff in Chevron Techron fuel additive. Inexpensive at Walmart. They have a High-Miles cleaner with a bit of top-end lubricant. Or just use some Marvel Mystery Oil along with the regular Gumout Regane stuff.

Walmart has a sale going on for the regular Regane additive, Woo Hoo!

I've been reading about the Amsoil Engine Flush and at under $15 a bottle (at their site, plus shipping) that sounds pretty decent. The 'Bob is the Oil Guy' site thinks highly of it.

There's another one they mentioned as being a very powerful cleaner, and that's Schaeffer's 131 Neutra .

It's a fuel additive, but also can be used as an engine flushing additive, at a recommended dosage of 1 oz per quart of oil. Their directions say to run 500 miles (or continuously for 4 to 12 hours) then change the oil.

Well, you could do that, then run a bottle of Amsoil Engine Flush thru the oil for the recommended 15 minutes, and that might be a very effective way of getting those carbon deposits off the piston rings.

Under $17 for 12 oz of the 131 stuff at Walmart, shipped free:
