HI,

I have recently puchased a 1999 Rodeo with V6 engine.

I need to change the timing belt and the only maintenance manual I could find locally is for for 1989-1997.

Does anyone know if the procedure for changing the belt is similiar enough, that the old manual would be adequate for doing the job?

Thanks :!:

I would keep trying to find a book, or talk to somebody that has done one. The '97 is a SOHC, whereas the '98 is a DOHC. I think there are some differences in how you have to line everything up. If there plenty of marks, it still should not be that bad. When i changed the one on my '96 it was difficult to turn the cam gears and crank pulley to get stuff lined up, but the overall process was not that difficult. I would definately recommend changing the water pump, and the belt tensioner. I didn't change the pump, and not quite a year later the new belt wore out my old pump.
