My manual says the manual tranny fluid for my '00 troop is 5w-30. Is this correct? It just doesn't sound right to me

It's right. I use Mobil 1 as it's a little better in cold weather till it warms up. Been using it in these trucks since '88.
Both transmission and the transfer case use the motor oil. Use anything different like heavy gear oil and say Bye Bye to your transmission.

8) ...now my '92 Amigo, 2.3, 5 spd is in the shop for fluid/oil change in the trans and diff. and to check
seals and bearings at each end!
I understand that the trans. gets 10w30 and the diff. gets 75w90.
What does the nomenclature 95f and 41f to 95f refer to? I believe the shop I go to uses Pennzoil!
Any comments or thoughts?
Understand I came to the ZuWorld from the Fix Or Repair Daily world!
...Bear with my simple questions! :?

Hes talking about the ambient temp in the area you live in. But you can use 5W30 synthetic just about anywhere.

I've always used 5w-30 synthetic. I am in OKC area - gets to 0f or a little below a few days a year and a lot of days over 100f. Am thinking of swapping to Rotella 5w-40.
