Hello all. I've only been on the Planet for a little while and I figured it's time for me to put up some decent pics of Suzie.

I will be using her as my daily so most of the work I do on her will be for function and reliability....at least until I decide it's time to drop my Mercedes OM617 turbo diesel into her

So far, this is what I've done to her:

Replaced broken power steering bracket and got it working
Put a G80 LSD out of a 95 Trooper in her rear end
Shocks all around
Ball joints
Front wheel bearings
All tie rods and center link
Steering stabilizer
Front sway bar end links
Alignment
Done a bunch of cleaning inside
Spark plugs
Replaced all the fluids
Installed some LED lights
Rewired the stereo speakers and installed subwoofer adjustment knob

I'll post as the list grows.

Cheers
Alex

Really a clean looking truck, complete with snowflakes, 4 wheel, looks like a tire upgrade and will comment again on the great job you did with those led fog lights.

Thanks HB, I appreciate it. The lights aren't the brightest but they do a good job of augmenting the headlights on dark roads. The whiter light makes the signs really pop...and I'm hoping it'll do the same for critter eyes.

BTW, anyone know where I can find OEM style vinyl shifter boots for Suzie?

That looks great! Very clean. When I bought my shifter boot, I got an OEM thru Jerry. Let me know if you need contact info. Other than that you might find a good one in the junkyards.

Thought I had commented earlier, but apparently forgot to hit submit. The ebay posting is not mine, but the stuff should fit your truck (1991-1997 Rodeo, 1988-1995 pickup, amigo 1991-1994
They are difficult to find (Jerry MAY have them)
Your truck is NICE. Appears to have "Big Tire Package" (4.56 gears, snowflake rims, 31x10.50x 15 tires and mud flaps at all four corners)
I don't see where you adjusted valves, checked head bolt torque, or timing belt, all advisable maintenance items if not already done. Wish I could find one like that. Dennis

Thanks Dennis! You are correct, I have not done any of those things yet. As far as I got was taking off the upper cover and inspecting the timing belt. It looked good but I will likely replace it and the water pump fairly soon. I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild on my 85 Mercedes 300TD so my wrenching time is kind of at a premium...not to mention my money

That thing is mint! All the polished chrome literally looks brand new
Thanks Tentin! I feel lucky to have found it. Has yet to see any dirt, but hopefully soon :D

Another 4X4 pickup showed up at one of the yards near here a couple of days ago so I went and checked it out. Not really picked over yet so I got the following:

Throttle body (mine sticks at times, and gets pretty annoying)
MAF sensor (just to have a spare)
Upper timing belt cover (mine is cracked)
Driver interior door handle trim (mine is cracked)
Jack (didn't have one)
Low pressure PS hose from reservoir to pump (mine was bodged by PO and leaking)

I plan to install the throttle body when I adjust the valves in a couple of weeks. I want to do the timing belt as well but I think I'll probably put that off for a few months. I have a few other very large fish to fry.

Also cleaned and oiled my K&N and did the fun job of removing the grill and replacing all those little clips. I polished it up and have it mounted solidly now.

Oh, and I got my emissions test a couple of days ago. Suzie passed with flying colors!

Where did you get the grill clips? All of mine are broken and the whole thing is only held in by a single screw.
I used to scarf extra clips any time I was in a boneyard and saw them. May still have a few. Want them? Dennis

Honestly they are pretty low on my needs list, so I'll pass for now. I can do the same at my local yards. I wasn't sure if he used some new, universal, product or something. Thanks for the offer Dennis.

Got mine from Jerry Lemond also. Check the smaller dust boot over the shifter on top of the transmission. Jerry had that as well. He also sent instructions on installing it without tearing. Worked like a charm.

Enemigo, I just snagged the clips from the junkyard like Dennis. The little posts on the grill that go around the clips are broken on some parts, but I can live with that. It really isn't a very good design that Isuzu came up with here.

Decided to do some work on Suzie over the last couple of days. I adjusted the valves and installed the throttle body and power steering hose that I picked at the junkyard last weekend. The valves were all a little bit loose, except 1, which was a bit tight. Overall, not too bad. I don't think I turned any more than 1/8 of a turn. I also checked the torque for the head bolts while I was in there, none of them moved.

Th only real problem I ran into was that one of the nuts that hold the fan to the water pump would not come of. It rounded of with a wrench and wouldn't budge with vice grips. I ended up having to use a dremel to cut a notch in the nut and then use a chisel to drive it loose. I got the nut off and didn't damage the stud at all :D

I also replaced a few small vacuum hoses but I'm not sure what to do about several of the larger formed hoses that have cracks at the ends. I guess I will start looking at junkyards unless anyone has any ideas of where I can find new ones. Is this a Jerry thing?

I think the next things on the agenda are cleaning/lubing the passenger window regulator and installing the cup holder I got. Also, I have an appointment to get the AC serviced on Friday...hopefully it will work!

Happy Easter everyone!

You'll be happy with the results that will come from the simple thing of just cleaning and lubing the window regulators. When I brought home the 89 RS I bought the windows would hardly go up and down. After cleaning and lubing them, used a heavy green looking grease applied with an acid brush and motor oil on the pivot points. They still work like new and that was 4 to 5 years ago. When going back together with the doors. I used large heavy duty trash bags cut to fit the inner door opening with 2 inch duct tape and it completely sealed them. Good job with the fan nut. I'm having similar issues with my 02 sensor. I don't use it anymore since my carb conversion and wanted to install a wide band air/fuel gauge. That'll have to wait for another day.

Took Suzie about 170 miles north into the Idaho mountains yesterday to pick up a motorcycle. She did fine with a load of about 800 lbs towed on the bumper. I'm really impressed with how sturdy the bumper is, and it's 2000 lb rating.

She looks good!

I'm curious what size tires you're running? It's time for me to upgrade and want to be sure what I order fits ;)
