Howdy folks. I just wanted to talk clubs here a minute. You guys know by now that I can be long winded, but please bear with me.
Tad (and others?) has/have done an AWESOME job getting Planetisuzoo together and hats off for a great site. However, local clubs are great too because then folks can do trail runs, swap parts, etc. I propose an Isuzu club for each region of the country. Club officers within each region would act as a National Club and make basic rules and regulations that all the regional clubs can follow and agree on. That way we don't have any regional clubs who litter trails or do heavy drinking and driving, etc. I've been in the Internatioal Truck club scene long enough to see the bad clubs. Anyway, maybe Tad would be willing to give each regional club a forum here on the Planet so the local guys can talk and get together. Regional clubs would all be tied together, so esentially any regional member would be a national member. With national membership we may be able to use our leverage to have manufacturers produce needed performance parts and at the least maybe provide us with a discount at some on-line stores or something. Membership should cost almost nothing... say $5 or $10 bucks, so as to make it available to everyone. Maybe someone can get a deal on some T-shirts given on membership so we feel like we're getting something. Other than that, clubs should sponser regional shows, trail runs, wrench-a-thons, etc. Maybe we can get some national shows, trail runs, etc too. The more folks are out there in force, the more magazine exposure we can get, more membership, more respect, more discounts, more everything. Okay, that's enough for now. Let's throw around some ideas and see what happens.
