Good to remember if I ever have 3 cans and more alcohol than I know what to do with, not to mention some food that I'd like to have luke warm...

That's a long way to go to avoid paying $10 at Wally World for a simple stove top for a bottle of LP. Inventive though.

It's not so much for ppl that camp out of their trucks, but backpackers are a very anal group about weight and space. There is no room for liquid LP tanks, there is no provision for the nearly 1 LB of weight in the pack when you can have this stove for <2 ounces, plus fuel. I just made one and it's performance will have me using it instead of my MSR Whisperlite. I'll post up some pics as soon as i figure out what the hell is wrong with my camera.
Plus, there is always room for someone to invent a Better Mousetrap

Results are in. I've now made 2 stoves, one like the design in the link above, and a hybrid. The hybrid pressurizes faster, is cleaner, easier to build, and cooks hotter.

I tested it tonight, and got 2 full cups of water to boil in 6:25 on just under an ounce of alcohol. This is not much slower than my wisperlite, and in all honesty, this thing is HELLA lighter than the wisperlite.

Construction is simple enough, and i'll be making a new windscreen and pot holder in short order to make a complete self storing cook set. the stove nestles in a cat food can that i have a plastic lid for. I use the cat food can as a prewarmer (this accounts for 1/4 ounce of fuel each time you start the stove) to get the stove fuel to boil...this takes about 20 seconds.

Here's the pics:

I tried to get some shots of it burning, but they aren't turning out too well.

Good job, even looks good! Didn't think about the backpacking situation. Makes sense. Necessity is the mother of...cool little stoves. :D
