Now that I've got the head off of my 2.6 guys I've got a question

Do you have to pull the transmission out to get the bottom end out of the troops
or will it slide out with enough room ?

Thanks Pat

What exactly are you asking?

What are you calling the bottom end? The block?

If so, yes you need to unbolt the tranny.

Well what I meant was I've heard that to pull the engine out you have to take the transmission out or at least slide it back to get engine to clear the input shaft to the transmisson and pull out of the engine bay

Do you have to take the transmission out or slide it back
or can it stay in place after you have unbolted it?

You can unbolt the driveshaft from the tranny, unbolt the tranny from it's crossmember, and then unbolt the tranny from the engine. Then you can slide the tranny back far enough to get it out of the way.

But honestly once you are this far it's better to drop the tranny all the way. Unless you have a really good way to support it.
