Today on one of the downhill's during the giro d italia. Vanant crashed on the decent and died. he was at a decent rate of 60mph and caught a guard rail with one of his pedals while trying to look for his support car. I dont know if anyone else in here is a cycling race fan, or a praying type. but lets hope and pray that the rest of the race goes on safely for all participants.

That bites! There are always a few mishaps on the Giro. But not too many deaths. European stage racing is TOUGH. Most people including cyclists don't realize how much of a super human mutant you need to be just to race let alone win. I don't follow it like I used to. Don't ride as much either since I wore out my knees. I have a friend at work who still does endurance mountain bike racing at 48! He follows the racing scene closely. I bought my 1st Trooper largely becaue of the roof rack space.

Wow, that's a shame.. it always makes me sad to hear about cycling incidents.... 60mph though! I always get a weird feeling about doing 35+ through the road downhills at Paris mountain locally on my mountainbike... thank god for good brakes. :?
