How do you adjust the parking brake? I know where to make the adjustment, but I am unsure as to when it is correctly adjusted.

It is under the truck. Just follow a brake cable from one of the rear brakes to a U shaped connector in the middle of the truck. The adjustment is at the center of the U and connects to the cable that goes to the emergency brake.

Then losen the lock nut and take out the slack in the cables. Then what? How can I tell that it is properly adjusted?

When under adjusting. Brake should not be set(make sure the car will not roll, block wheelsa. Cables should be slightly loose. Then set the brake. It should pull easily for a bit then firm up quickly. Readjust till it feels good to you. See how firm it holds by putting it in gear and making it go. Just make sure that it's not over tight. Good luck

Be sure to check that it is tight enough to stop the truck and hold it on an incline. If it is too loose you will not be able to apply the brakes by pulling on the handle.
