About a month ago I bought myself an extra 4x4 :D
So here are a couple of pics of my Opel Monterey

Here's how I bought it

With the 3" lift installed

With the new BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires on my new black rims 8)

Some Flexin :D

Muddy

I'm now making a 1'' bodylift and some 8mm thick balljoint spacers:

A little video :D

Specs in my sign.

Thank you :D
It has some dents and scratches.. but it's still in quite a good shape 8)

Today I measered the ground clearance under my rear axle tubes, front crossmember and rear diff.

Rear diff: 250mm 9.8"
Rear axle tubes: 340mm 13.4"
Front cross member: 350mm 13.8"
I'm quite impressed with the results :p

BTW I added a video :)

Is that rear tire cover stock? It's different than the ones we get over here.

As far as I know that cover is stock.

Yesterday I added my Aussie locker up front.

And today I took it for a spin.
The locker works perfect and gives incredible traction :)

Here is how the fun started 8)

And here is how it ended

Broke my tie rod and snapped the outer CV.
Both my tie rod and CV on the right side already were bad. (tie rod was bent a little and there was play on the ball cage)
gonna repair it all ASAP and I'm thinking of making some stronger tie rods :p

Ouch, have you thought about dropping the diff hangers?

That boot looks like the band has snapped could it be re banded onto the hub?

Yikes! Way to brake in that locker! Have you seen the HD tie rods independent4x has? Might be worth it...

I actually have thought about dropping my diff. an inch or so, but it's a lot of work ;) so I thought when I'm easy on the throttle it won't break! WRONG  It snapped like nothing I didn´t even hear it.
I saw it when I looked at my bend tie rod.

I like the indy tie rods, but they are so expensive to get over here.. So I'm now making my own tie rod shields, I will post some pics when I put them on.

I already have a new tie rod, but I found out that there are differences in the CV's through the years.
Mine are about 5mm smaller than the ones a friend of me gave me.
So nothing was interchangeable :(

Next time I break a CV I'm gonna drop the diff.
When pulling my axle to install the locker I found out that the ball cage on that cv was very loose, I didn't pay to much attention to it because there was no radial and axial play.
I think it was already weak because I beat them hard, with some high peakloads before a had the locker.

Today I went to the same spot as yesterdag, but now the terrain was even worse. Afther some playing, I drove into some kind of ditch and couldn't reverse so I had to go al the way through a deep soft muddy spot. Then I got stuck  There were 2 cars and one winch needed to get me out

Some pics and video's from today before I got stuck :D

And some from when I was stuck :p

After some winching it was getting dark :p

Cool man, The 1 inch lift was it just putting in the spacers?
I just putted in some 1" spacers, took the 6 front bolts off and putted those in the rear 6 mounts (front ones are about 1" longer). Bought some longer bolts for the front mounts and lifted my bumpers. That's al I did. Getting the bolts was the hardest part. Those are M10x125 fine thread and quite long.

Thanks Neo :D

I've got stuck again 8) this time even worse then before  Got stuck in a frozen ditch.. Tried to get me out with 2 4x4's, a truck and a normal car BUT no movement at all!! Ended up leaving my car there for 3 days and finally calling an tow truck
Pics say more than a thousand words, so some pics:

Some pics of the recovery:

At home I found out that I snapped a cv AGAIN!! haha
It actually grenaded

So now I'm workink on a 1.5" diff. drop, this will ease the Cv angles with 9.3*
Now my cv angles are 35.6* at full drop. Thats about a wheel steered at full lock.
This is how my cv looks before I snapped it (this is not even full drop)

This is my standard diff bracket:

Will post some pics of the drop brackets when they are ready to go in :p
I also have a cheap *** solution for some HD tie rods!

More pics to come 8)
