Hey guys i am a new owner here. I just bought my 1990 zuzu trooper today. It is 4 door with a v6 and a 5 speed. I am curious if the holley tbi upgrade for the 4.3 will work on the 2.8. I have seen that the 4.3 will bolt right on and have no problems but i also heard to expect like 20 horse's which i think is a little high. Any input? The tbi is really small though but i just wanted to ask you vet's.

Most upgrades, with the exception of headers, should work on your 2.8L. Just double check the part #s and listing to make sure it will work on the 2.8L and if it lists the motor 90% of the time you are good to go.

I am no expert on the 2.8 by any means, just going by word of mouth. I have not heard much on the TBI upgrade perfromance wise, but I heard it does open up the motor a little more. Someone with more 2.8 experience will hopefully chime in on their experiences.

If your going to do the 4.3 TBI upgrade (which can be any GM TBI unit from an S10/S15), then you'll also want to obtain a new 2.8 intake, take it to a machine shop and have it bored to match the bore of the TBI unit (You can do this yourself, I've heard a dremel will do it among other tools, you just need to make a template). Just bolting a 4.3 TBI to a nonmatched intake is like, well, rice :roll:

Boring out the intake will provide all the bennies of the larger TBI.
