Here's a '99 3.5 for $1100, it's in Creswell Oregon, you can pick it up for the cost of gas for the trip. Save on shipping, and it comes with a warranty (only 90 days, but it's something). Surely you could find a shop better than the one you got the $8000 quote from, to do an engine R&R.
