The friend who fabbed my grille guard converted a 3/4 ton straight 6 chevy pickup to diesel. The 4 cylinder, turbo-charged, intercooled cummins diesel runs very sweet. Has a turbo 400 tranny. It's only like 120+ hp / 230 (approx) torque. What probably helps is that it has a pretty low rear end. Would definitely want an overdrive for sustained highway use. Came out of a frito-lay step van. Another friend took a 52 chevy pickup, installed it on an s-10 chassis and put in an identical diesel.

Sounds like a cool truck. I have one of those 3.9 Cummins 4 cyl turbo diesels that I will be installing in my 68 CJ-8. Hoping to have the project complete by next summer.
