I was sitting at the light and she drove right into the back of it.
Hit the rear door in, broke the glass and pushed in the bumper a little. Door still works.
Her truck looked to have more severe damage, Hood crushed and bent, grill and bumper. And her engine making belt noises, may have damaged radiator. We smelled alcohol on her as did the cop, but he 'gave her a break' and did not test her for drunk driving. She did not slow down at all. Road is 35 mph.

I sourced a door and can get a bumper.
She admitted fault and Geico insurance adjuster I will see this Tuesday.

What will the insurance guy do? What is the value of the Trooper?
I prefer to be handed a check and fix myself.
Should I try to get other repair estimates to show the insurance adjustor?

Bumper pushed in both sides.

When I got rear ended last year, I got lucky. The guy driving an Impala hit my tow hitch. It destroyed his bumper and grill and punctured the radiator. I climbed under the Trooper and the only damage I could see was a broken crappy weld that the PO did when he installed a Mitsubishi hitch. It didn't even touch the spare tire. I let the guy limp home without calling the police.
I have since removed, straightened, chopped it to the the correct length and bolted it on.
Good luck on your part sourcing and compensation from the insurance.

I bought a good white door with glass, no rust or dents for $159 locally. Good deal!

It also has a bumper. I thought I might be able to pull the metal bumper frame out straight, dont know. It warps up a little at the middle step.
I would be happy enough if Geico agreed to pay for the parts.
According to Kelly Blue Book, 3rd party resale value of this Trooper goes from $1300 to $3500, averages at $2500. But when I looked online I found only one 2002 for $2200 at 180 miles away. And the other 3 were over $3000.

Couple years ago, I bought a 2" receiver hitch, and that hit her truck bumper. It was undamaged but her bumper got slammed in there.

Geico adjuster gave me a check for $1250, and no totaling of the Trooper. Very happy with that, it is totally fair.
He said just the rear door and rear bumper meant not totaled out, the Trooper still has enough value. But if the rear quarter panels had been hit in, that meant frame body damage and it would be totaled.

My Trooper still looks good, including the inside and it all works fine. So the impression is it's not old and junky. Engine and trans is good. The only issue is tappet noise and a leaky 4L30e shift selector seal.

My Trooper has zero frame or body rust being a southern vehicle, and had no dents.

Got the door painted black today. I think it is ok looking. I used Behr black spray paint. It is a very deep black.
I taped the letters, a pain to do, but more of a pain to remove them. Gutted the door, left the third brake light on, and the rear wiper motor. I painted the inside too.

I need to get door back on and get Trooper inspection done, then go get a rear bumper. Would like to get the rear rubber bump stops for axle. Mine fell off.

This door, the door hinges are difficult. only way to get the door off is leave hinges on the body and slip door off the hinges. But they welded metal nuts to the hinges versus threading hinge arms so they tend to hang up on the door framing. The door is heavy, it will have to sit on something like a stool and take 2 people to finesse it back onto the hinge arms. When I saw how Isuzu made these hinges....it would have been so much better to just tap the bolt hole of the hinge arm and not weld on nuts that make it a struggle fit.

I was looking at instructions to remove rear bumper. Mentioned the 4 big bolts to the frame and 2 other small bolts, which I do not have on mine. I took off the 4 big bolts, removed the 2" receiver hitch. (hitch actually uses total of 6 big bolts)

Wiggled bumper, off it came. At the front it slides into a plastic bushing, there is only the 4 bolts.
The inner bumper metal subframe is all distorted from the wreck.

Trooper metal frame looks good.
