I think he´s referring to shifter directly into transmission vs the ones that have the remote shifter box.

2.6 4ez1. My 91 “parts” 4x4 shifter is off Center with the shift lever on the tunnel.

Do you have the shifter in the trans right now, or are you saying the hole in the top of the transfer case isn't aligning with the floor? Note that it might be okay as is because the shifter has a crook in it and it could be in a different gear than you expect.

You need a quadrant box to move it back. Yes you can but need to cut the floor tunnel more and figure out a seal.
