I tried the range sensor cleaning on my 1992 v-6, SOV with no luck. Here's what mine is doing: Dash lights will come on, O2, fuel, etc. I hear clicking under the dash when the lights flash. The auto transmission then starts in third or fourth gear. I have to manually shift through the transmission, occassionally it will downshift into first at a stoplight, but most times not. Am I looking at a solenoid issue, vacuum sensor, any ideas where I should look next? Many thanks in advance!

Sounds to me like your alternator could be toast.

If your "PRND321" lights on the dash line up exactly with what gear you selected with the floor shifter, your range/mode sensor is fine. I'd vote for the low voltage thing as well. 4L30E's dont work well if you truck puts out less (or more) than 14v with the truck running.
