Working on installing Moog lower ball joint for 90 Pickup and im wonder is that gap between knuckle and lowerball join suppose to be closed?

Im at the point where you cant spin the castle nut anymore without force and breaker bar.

Does the shank of the new ball joint the same shape & size as the ball joint you removed?

Visually looks about the same.

On the old one the boot is expanded and maybe its filling in the void perhaps? Just need to ease my ocd.

You are missing the boot on the new one. The shank on the ball joint is tapered to fit into the spindle. If it went all the way down it wouldn't move in all directions as the ball joint is intended. Without the boot, you won't be able to grease it and it will fail very quickly. Reinstall with the boot, index the cotter pin hole, tighten it down to spec, pin it, grease it, and run it.

The new moog balljoints dont have a traditional boot, just a wiper seal.

That's normal for the new style moog ball joints with the low profile boot/seal
