Specifically, the Lincoln LS seats I put in my M715.
Last week I tilted the passenger seat back forward to get my bag-o-chains and the seat back won't recline back. It's stuck in the forward position.
All connections good, the other functions work, there were no obvious binding issues or anything to indicate a mechanical problem was imminent.
When I flip the recline switch back and forth the motor will bump a little, it has power and it's trying to do something.
I haven't tried removing the motor yet to see if the little gearbox has an issue.
I found a pdf of the service manual dealing with the seats. Most of it is verifying power and comms with the computer in the dash and the one in the door, neither of which I have.
One part shows how to recalibrate the travel sensors with the Ford scan tool. This worries me a bit because I do not have a Ford scan tool or a port on my truck to plug it into or any computers for it to communicate with/through.
I haven't gotten far enough into the PDF to see if it has a wiring diagram.
The plan is to check out the gearbox or whatever is hiding under the motor, hopefully without having to remove the upholstery.
If it's a mechanical issue, I'll go from there. If I can get the seat back in position I'll disable it and carry on.
If it's the travel sensors... maybe bypass? Wire the motor/switch directly?
