I bought a Rodeo this week and I just got my insurance statement, $847.00 a year! It's for full coverage, glass ect. just the usual. I am a homeowner, 40+ with no tickets, no accidents ect. What's with this high insurance with an Isuzu? My insurance agent just goes by "the charts". It's $300 a year cheaper to insure my 92' Range Rover! This is nuts! I am totally bummed because we like the truck but this does not seem right.

I think alot more younger people drive Rodeo over a Rover so that's the reason for higher rates. BTW, the Trooper is lower than the Rodeo so it's not Brand related. Just for comparison, I owned a Mazda Protege and the rate was double than what my Trooper was and that car was half the price of the Trooper! I was looking at a Disco before the Trooper as the rates were higher for the Disco. This is where a compact car might NOT be more ecomonical when you account for insurance rates. When ever I buy a new vehicle, I allways check rates first before buying.

I usually check the insurance before buying.
My insurance on the Amigo was cheaper than the Taurus we had. Might consider shopping around some. Are you sure they are applying a multiple policy discount? I think mine is $60/mo, but obviously it varies with region.

the cost of the insurance would not have stopped me from buying it. i just think the insurance rate is way too high considering the vehicle. it's far from a high performance vehicle and so i am lost why the rodeo is so high in the insurance industry.

my other two cars are covered with liabilty only. one is a 195k mile 1990 volvo 740 and the before mentioned rover. It's used about 2k miles a year at most and worth maybe $5500.00 tops. i am already getting a multi-car discount and my house is covered by them! i guess i need to do some shopping.

My friend, with similar insurance history, pays double for his 99 Rodeo than I pay for my '01 Troop
Two big factors in determining insurance are repair costs and theft risk.
There are more Rodeos out there than Troopers, and they are more typically driven by younger (higher risk) drivers--more (not higher) repair costs.
Also, with more out there, they are more likely to be stolen.
Hope you have luck shopping around!

I own a 94 Rodeo and a 91 Twin Turbo 300ZX. The Z costs twice as much as the Rodeo and has almost twice the power.... But yet insurance for it is $100 cheaper than my Rodeo. Go figure.

The price your insurance company is charging you seems a little too high. We have full coverage by Mercury including homeowners, multiple car, etc... Its my paretns policy but they include me @ extra cost as part of a family plan or something and I have the coverage on my car that covers everything with a limit of 100mil i believe. I'm only paying roughly 600 per year for the insurance on my 99 Passport (RODEO) and I'm only 19. If you get a little less coverage, its even cheaper. Definitely shop around.
