Hi guys - I live in Australia and drive a 2000 V6 Auto Petrol Jackaroo (Trooper)
The car has done 160000 with me driving without a hitch but now it is"flaring" on occasions when I try to change gears. eg Coming up to an intersection and cruising in 4th gear and then hitting the acellerator all I get is a lot of noise like gears slipping / bands slipping / and no action. After a while it changes gear. It can also happen from start sometimes.
It is intermittant and only appears to happen when the car and transmission has warmed up.
Can anyone offer any possibilities before I ask someone to replace gearbox?
Thanks

If you are already looking at a tranny swap, I'd at least try a fluid and filter change. It may noy help at all, then again it just may be what teh doctor ordered.

Usually when these trannies start slipping they are dead.
