Yeah, it wasn't that bad, but I was a mechanic in a previous life so I still have some basic knowledge buried deep in my skull. It's been rather nice to know that I'm finally replacing a bunch of parts that would have needed to be replaced soon-ish anyway. The head gasket blowing was the impetus for me to quit having fun daily driving my Trooper around, and take a few weeks to sort a bunch of stuff out.

Pretty much now all I have to do is time/gap my valves and get an exhaust installed! Woohoo!

I'm currently at work, waiting to jet home the put the new accessorie drive belts on the Trooper after swapping out the harmonic balancer. I also had new tie rod ends delivered as well. That project will need to wait for PB Blaster to go work. I figure that I would be wise to start a build thread now.

Looks about right for a Trooper from that era! That does seem to be an issue: Things were done/fixed, but probably not since 1995 or so (if ever)! I've been replacing all the bushings and suspension/steering components on my two "good" Troopers since I obtained them. People just drove the heck out of these things

I'm glad someone picked up that trooper so I didn't have to! I was eyeballing it hard! Good luck with it and enjoy the process!

Thanks good sir! Its been enjoyable so far and the learning curve hasn't been too steep either. Should be getting it tagged here in a few days!! Currently sorting out a stubborn Aisin Locking hub that wants to stay "free" only. I'll be hitting the search bar in a few :D

Right on - hopefully you get it all sorted. You should try to make it out to the Spring Uwharrie get together to put it through its paces.

Lorenzo and I are on opposite ends of Charlotte, seems like he's always working on or parting a 1st gen, and I've had my share over the years, in case you are looking for a part or a hand with anything.

Thank you Paul. I will more than likely make you and Lorenzo "go to" guys for any tough part searching. As far as Uwharrie, I do want to check it out!! It sounds like a blast!! I should have enough time to shake down the Trooper before then. At least I hope.

I did fix the locking hub issue. It appears that someone reassembled is incorrectly. Checked out a YouTube video one of the members linked the thread too and it's good to go.☺
