I have a 2000 Trooper. The pinion seal on the front differential has developed a leak. How difficult a task is it to replace? Anyone out there have any experience with this?

Get yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual from your local NAPA, or parts store. They lay it out for you step-by-step. Almost a necessity if you plan on doing your own maintenance and repair. They're definately worth the 14 or 15 buck investment. Good Luck!

The biggest thing to remember is to mark the pinion nut. You will want to mark the nut to shaft relationship, and remove the pinion nut. Then replace the seal. When you tighten down the pinion nut, tighten it down to the mark. This should put things back where they were, and not require that you buy a new crush sleeve from Isuzu.
