Ive been planning to swap ford 8.8 rear in my 97 rodeo to better handle around 500 horsepower and around the same amount of torque, i would assume i need a 31 spline independent variant of the 8.8, but which vehicles would be best to find this rear end in ? All help and information is greatly appreciated!!!

The rear end is a Dana 44 solid axle. Why would you want an independent suspension 8.8 rear? This may be a better question for ford guys but I welcome it anyhow.

Unless you plan on building a whole new suspension setup, then yes, you need a solid/straight axle.
