hi,
i have a 1990 trooper 1 and the problem is it dies soon, like 4 seconds, after starting it up cold. as soon as i give it a little gas for a few seconds it will run ok . any help would be great seeing as i have had 3 different mechanics in the past tell me 3 different things.
thanks

its a 2.6 4 banger, 161,000+, driven every day, northern california in redding pretty hot. however for the past few months iv been in and will returne to southern california.
the best i can do is guess.I have owned 4 Amigo's and 2 had that motor. With age the throttlebody would wear to the point and the throttle would hang up making the initial part of the peddle very stiff. After a while of this then the problem you have would start. It can be a real problem off-road.Good luck
OK iv fixed it. i feel kinda dumb but oh well. it was a vacume tube that went to the fule regulator and it had just fallen off or maby i pulled it off by accident when i was installing a cold air intake. thanks all for the help.

Just a question. Did the ignition lights stay on before it died?
