Well, I've come across the deal of the century. I have talked about a friend that used to wheel his Rodeo...but has pretty much dropped off the face of the earth the last 5 years. I ran into him at Home Depot a few months ago, and talked to him....he said he had lost the passion, and was going to scrap his Rodeo....I told him to call me before he did that. I didn't hear from him for 2 months, then last week I got the call.

So, the Rodeo, I've mentioned in a post here or there cuz it's pretty unique. It's a 96 Rodeo LS....He has done an SAS, using a Dana44...he had it custom done. It's got a ford high pinion center, with the tubes cut/switched so that it excepts waggy axles...so it's high pinion which is great for driveline angle. He did air shocks (the main problem with the truck) They make it not able to be street legal here....those will get replaced with coilovers. It's dual triangulated 4-link, it has dual ARB's with Quick Air 2 compressor....Teralows.

So, some of the work will need to get looked at to make sure it is strong enough...but it should be. The engine runs (has the obvious tick), it drives, and is fine. The air shocks are leaking, but that's not a big deal cuz they will get ditched anyway. The paint is shot...it's faded, chipped, looks overall, just bad. The underside does have some rust...but it's been sitting for the past 4 years, so it's not too bad...nothing some POR15 wouldn't take care of. He does have a 3'' body lift on it, which I'd like to remove, but a lot of the work was done around that extra area...so we will see if that's possible.

The good, it's an LS with the 5 speed...so no 4L30E. It's got all those goodies, 35x13.5x15 Toyo MT's with probably 75% tread and the spare has never even touched the road. Dual ARB's installes, with 5.13 gears. Solid compressor, brand new red top Optima....also, it only has 92K miles

Now, the KILLER part....he is so disillusioned with it, that he is selling it to me for $750.

I am stocked. He said he would take $400, but I didn't feel right paying him so little....I just couldn't live with myself...hell, I actually feel bad for $750, but that's all I could swing right now...and he was greatful I went higher. He was considering selling it for scrap and they told him $300, so he's happy...but I still feel kind of bad for it...but either way, I can't wait to go pick it up sometime this week...and have my shop look it over...but it started right up, and ran fine when I looked at it today...so it's very promising.

Swede, you have probably met him. He went by Jgalt on the wire...he had the black LS, and won the carnage award in Moab I think the last(or maybe 2nd to last) official Zuzoo, cuz he broke his rear output shaft off.

Oh, and here I thought I posted this in General Isuzu Discussion...oh well, I thought I was crazy and couldn't figure out where it was

Jgalt, OK, I remember the handle, if not the face.

I think I missed it somewhere...why was this guy so irritated with this rodeo that he was going to scrap it?

I think the main reason he was fed up was just that he spent a lot of money to have the SAS done, and the first 2 times out, he broke something. The first time, they didn't put a proper breather tube in the rear diff, and he ended up spitting out enough fluid that he seized up his rear end....2nd time, he ripped a control arm mount off the frame. He found the weak points right off the bat, and I think he struggled after dumping money into.

He also said he had just lost his interest in the sport.

Kind of sad to dump that kind of money into a truck, then lose interest so fast...but hey, I guess it's a win for me.
