So i was under my truck yesterday, and noticed that both of the cv boots closest to the wheels are split. Is it bad to keep driving with these? and how hard are they to replace? thanks..

They arent too bad to do. If you keep driving with it you will get dirt and stuff in the cv joint and wear it out (especially with our daily monsoon rains lately). I've done a few of them and can pull the shaft in about 1/2 hr, start to finish on replacing boots is about 2 hrs. Here is what is involved...

I use Dorman brand boots from O'Riellys. Never saw the need for mechatech boot kits since you have to pull the shaft anyway and thats 95% of the work done.
