4x4 Truck $350.

Wish I had time to drag this home. It's in a remote mining town about 1.5 from Boise.

http://boise.craigslist.org/cto/4455265402.html

Body panels are straight, Door glass good, windshield cracked, camper shell, runs(sort of, need alt bracket, exhaust, inst. cluster), 4x4, 5speed, a/c, v-6
Dang - If I was any where near there, would snag that in a heart beat. That is a $1000 in parts on the low side of things.
Where was it? Closer to me than you guys? Post is deleted, wish I would've seen it, but probably better that I didn't.
The truck is back!

It's now down in Boise and asking $650. In other words, someone pulled this down the mountain and is going for a quick flip....

Hi, Jesse. Please tell what you're posting.

However, this one's already sold (to FlukeGE) anyway. For those who missed it, it's a non-running '86 TD Trooper that was first offered on the Yahoo!Groups "IsuzuTD" list.

I don't get it... what do you mean, please tell? Everything is there. Trooper diesel, Tallahassee, link to Cragslist... what are you missing?

This guy posted to my forum this afternoon. I just got in to find the post. So it's sold? Good for him. There was no description this morning either. The Trooper just died and I guess they didn't want to put in any more money. You know what it costs to rebuild these motors.

All you posted was the link....It's good form to describe where/what the link is going to hold.....In this case

86 TD Trooper non running Tallahassee
(Insert link here)

just a little is good, more is better, relinking pix is great.....but like me I have little interest in a 1st gen troop atm, especially clear in Tallahassee so it would've saved me having a glimmer of interest in the link.

Look above that, in the subject line of his post.

Some days are like that. :( I recently went back to work, can I blame it on that?

Sorry for the trouble, Jesse. And by the way, the guy who was buying it has changed his mind.

In my younger days, I would have negotiated the price on the phone and gotten out on the road with a trailer an hour later for a road trip to pick up that little Trooper. That would be a 24 hour trip for me one way.

I personally think all the Trooper II 2.23 TD's should be saved but that's just me. Even if they are not running. I really envy those guys like Jerry Lemond and Johnny 5 who have acres of land to store Troopers on. At one time I had five Trooper II's in my driveway. Only one was running. Livin' the dream...

Some years back, I followed the progress on a rebuild of a 2.23 motor and it got really expensive. I think it would have been easier to get a JDM 3.1 Bighorn TD off ebay with all the bits to drop in.

I don't think Gene will have a hard time selling the Trooper if the first buyer backed out.

Taken form the CL ad:

1986 Isuzu Trooper turbodiesel 4x4. Stopped running a couple of days ago and had to be towed home, but is still in decent shape (140K miles) overall. One of 400 4dr diesels imported into the US.
[glow=red]My son took a couple of pieces of dashboard off before he was killed[/glow] (they're in the truck)..and took the key with him so the ignition lock has been bypassed, but this is a great project truck for someone wanting an old-school 4x4 that gets 30MPG on veggie or used motor oil. It does have the usual assortment of minor dings and some small rust but is amazingly nice for the age. The photos aren't current as I do not have an easy way to get over where I towed it to.

END OF AD

WTF?? Is this a death car?? If he was killed by ANY means the author seems pretty freekin' nonchalant about the death of their son. .

Also noticed that the plates are VA, but it's listed in FL :dontknow:

Probably a military fatality. The son could have been stationed out of Virgina.

More info from Gene. My last post on this, promise. Enough info to call if you're interested. On the youtube video he talks about some motor noises right before it died and he pulled over. I'd want to see some photos of the motor to determine if it was upgraded by Isuzu with the better rods. Usually, if the external EGR catch tank was installed on the inner passenger wheel well then the factory upgrade was completed. I sure a lot of you already know this, but Isuzu did a recall on the motor when they started blowing up or dying and replaced them. That big plastic EGR recovery canister the size of a toaster was part of the "fix." Part of the attempt to minimize the "coking" in the EGR system that caused the problem. VW Jetta's/TDi's had the same issues. I cleaned out my EGR recovery pipe on a used 2001 Jetta I bought. Was supposed to be over 2" clear and it was so coked I could hardly get a straw through it.

Jesse
