I described to an Isuzu mechanic the way coolant is leaking into one of the plug wells on my '99 Trooper. He said that even without looking at the truck he's pretty sure it's a cracked head. When I asked the dealer for a quote to replace the head it was almost a grand for the head and gaskets and then the 10 1/2 hours of labor. Worked out to be well over $2K.

Has anyone out there ever had to replace a head on the 3.5? I'm wondering if there is a cheaper way of doing this. The Trooper is in great shape, but it already has well over 100k on the odo.
