So I have had my HP G60-235DX Notebook since brand spankin new. Love the thing to death, does all the work I ask it too.

EXCEPT

My webcam stopped working. I have updated everything, and it says the driver is updated to its newest. I will click on the software to run it (Cyberlink You Cam) and my webcam light (which is white and too the left of the camera) will illuminate, and shortly affter it will say that...

then i click OK, and then the light next the camera doesn't go off, but is in a dimmer state.

Now It will not work at all with Skype, Cyberlink You Cam (the software preloaded for its use) or Windows Live Messanger. Sometimes when I try to use it on Omegle or something of the sort, It will get a quick choppy shot of me or whatever but then not function in realtime video.

I can provide as much information as needed.

I have done a Windows Update and a HP Software Update. Like I said it says my drivers are up to date.

Help. I want to be able to Skype with friends but it won't work. :(

What operating system? I have an HP-G72 on Windows 7 and sometimes the HP stuff will update and then not work until a new windows update comes out.

One of the main reasons it mostly sits on another desk while I work off the regular PC.

You best call HP Customer Care!!!

And before you complain about calling India, just think... our customers in India have to call ME for low level tech support... poor bastards.

I'm not a pro or anything but maybe you can go into your device manager and uninstall / reinstall the camera? Is it plugged in securely?

Worse comes to worst, I usually google the problem. :)

I think it is time for a new cam. This one was integrated into my laptop. The thing is 3 years old.

I googled to no avail.

Thanks for the help anyway. :D

Go in to the device manager and delete the driver profile for it (right click and uninstall)

Then find your folder the new updated drivers is installed in and when you tell your computer to search for new hardware (computer icon up top of the device manager) Make sure you direct it to the folder with the new driver in it.

If all else fails, just remember all the kids in India that don't have laptops.:?
