Hey, i've got a 1999 isuzu trooper, there is a leak coming out of the transmission, and hitting the exhaust, which results in a burning smell after it heats up...

So, what i'd like to know: how can I check the oil levels in the transmission? There's no dipstick for it, so how can it be done?

Yeah, it is sorta like a differential, you check it by removing the fill plug underneath, with the engine running. It should be full up to the level of the plug.

I have the Jiffy Lube guys check it for me, it is much easier to do with the pits they have in their garage.

Well in 2004 they did...not sure about now. My 99 Trooper got totaled 3 years ago. My 93 is a manual tranny so I haven't had to worry about it.
