I want to install a CB radio in my 99' Rodeo. Ideally I would like the antenna off the rear tire carrier but the space is very tight. I do have a tire cover and one thought is to remove it and put the bracket off the very back of it. However placing it between the tire and the tailgate would be a much cleaner install and less chance of it snagging on stuff. Anyone have any suggestions? Also if you have some pics of your set-up that works well, post them if you could.

Thanks in advance! :)

I have a 99 Amigo with the antenna mounted on the spare tire rack between the tire and the window...no complaints except for some rough terrain, the antenna knocks the roof a bit. I now have a quick disco base for the antenna for parking garages. I've killed a bunch of flourescent tubes recently :)

Tech specs, 48" firestick NGP antenna. I used a NGP because I didn't trust the back gate for a good ground. I have no complaints with this setup. Some truckers say i sound kinda trash-canny, but that is more than likely my mic.

The problem with the 99' Rodeo is the wiper getting in the way. I thought of putting in a spacer on the tire carrier but it might put too much stress on the mount. I'll have to just do it and check how it hangs. Thanks for the pics, basically your installation set-up is what I want to accomplish.
