My hubby is driving to Canada in our 95.5 4wd, 4door Rodeo next week.we need to replace the door weatherstripping to cut down on the noise and help keep him warmer. I cant find it at whitney, zone, napa or advance. Where can we get this at? Thanks!

The weather seals tend to collapse as the rubber ages, and they don't seal as well as when they were new.

I had great success revitalizing my Rodeo tailgate seal by cutting small holes in it, injecting a few drips of water (just enough to moisten the inside of the seal) and then injecting silicone sealant. You MUST add some water, or the silicone will take forever to cure.

You can use the normal bathroom silicone sealant in a tubes (it's available in black) and a standard caulking gun. Cut the tip of the nozzle so its as narrow as possible.

When you inject the sealant, work it around inside the air space in the rubber seal. The rubber seal will perk up as it pressurizes, and the sealant will stop it collapsing again. Bung any holes as soon as you finish one section to stop the silicone oozing back out before it has cured.

Make as many holes as necessary and just keep injecting the stuff until the whole seal is finished. Next day, remove the bungs and trim any excess with a sharp blade.

You can also use the black sealant to fill any nicks and notches in the door seals.

After the fix, my tailgate glass and door stopped clunking when driving over bumps, and there's no wind noise. Should work for all the doors ...

JLemond gave me the following advice on how to restore weatherstripping;

"ON YOUR REAR DOOR SEAL/ SEALS TAKE A LOOK AT THE ENDS AND THE CORNERS AND SE IF THEY ARE JUST FLATTENED , IF SO THEY CAN BE REPAIRED RIGHT ON THE TRUCK, IF THEY ARE TORN THEN YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THEM, HERE IS WHAT YOU DO TO FIX A FLATTENED ONE THAT ISN'T SEALING UP REAL GOOD , THIS WILL ALSO WORK ON THE SIDE DOORS AS WELL, GO TO LOWES OR HOME DEPOT OR ANY WHERE YOU CAN GET REGULAR WINDOW SCREEN LACING , THE RUBBER PIECE THAT IS PRESSED IN THE GROOVE OF WINDOW SCREENS TO HOLD THE SCREEN TO THE FRAME , THIS IS JUST A VERY SMALL RUBBER TUBE , NOW AT THE CORNERS OF THE DOOR SEAL, CUT A SMALL SLOT IN THE SEAL , THESE SEAL ARE HOLLOW THE FULL LENGTH ALL AROUND , TAKE THE PIECE OF RUBBER AND START ONE END INTO THE SLIT AND SPRAY IT WITH PD BLASTER AS YOU SLIDE IT IN THE SEAL AND TWIST IT AS YOU PUSH IT END ALL THE WAY TO THE CORNERS , THEN CUT IT OFF AND GO THE OTHER DIRECTION WHEN FINISHED WITH THAT ONE TAKE A TUBE OF SUPER GLUE AND GLUE THE SLIT BACK TOGETHER , BEST RUBBER CEMENT EVER MADE , IF YOU GO ALL THE WAY AROUND THE DOORS WITH THE SEAL LIKE THAT THE DOORS WILL CLOSE AND SEAL UP AS GOOD AS NEW . WON'T WORK ON THE WINDOWS SINCE THEY ARE SOLID ,BUT WORKS GREAT ON THE DOOR OR BODY SEAL. "

Wow! That will work really well for me, since my 1999 has a collapsed rear gate seal with just 60K on the clock. I'm pulling the body off to put on a blazer or similar frame as a project.

My question is, where can I get replacement rear glass seals for my 2001 Honda Passport? I noticed that they have very big gaps and that they do not conform to the body of the truck anymore. I think that is why the rear bumper metal support frame has rusted to nearly dust.

The water is running off the roof, down the side channels inside the rear pillars and into the back of the truck frame.

For now, I can keep it out of the rain, but if I want to hang onto the truck I've got to find some sort of replacement pieces.

I searched on here for threads with the problem and that is how I found this one.

Thanks!

I tried the "screen rubber" fix on my Spacecab side door and doing it is much more difficult than it sounds. My door also still has (the annoying) wind noise. I'm thinking a length of nylon rope, soaked in soapy water might work better. I threaded a piece of coat hanger through the seal. Attached to that was a length of nylon string, tied to the rubber screen strips (folded over in half so that one pull brought 2 strips). Threading the hanger (which had the leading end folded over) was very difficult. Dennis

I found my rear window glass top seal and the cap nut for the rear wiper here : www.hondapartsnow.com

The prices were quite reasonable and now I do not have to deal with the Passport haters at the two local honda dealers.

Quite a bit of stuff is available and if I wanted I could buy an entire new frame from them for just over $2k! I bet the shipping would be a shock though!

So if there is a comparable year honda passport to your rodeo, it might be a site to keep in mind.
