the check trans light came on a year or so ago a couple months after changing the trans fluid. I took it to the shop and they found no sign of slippage (splipping) or other problem nor did they get any diagnostic code (they did try). They changed the fluid again and said it was burnt looking...they reset the warning lights. because it drove fine, i figured i'd wait and see. The lights came on again after a month or two, then off, then on, etc.... but it drives fine...some burnt smell..... Someone mentioned the "vacume pump" i think it was, and said a bad one can cause the engine to burn the trans fluid... causing the burnt smell, etc. Any thoughts on this? is the part the "vacume pump"? Any specialists local to Oakland CA or near?
