Just picked up this trooper last week. Been running great. But I’m seeing this hose and it seems pretty beat up. Made of like a wire mesh and isn’t clamped on. Time for a new one? Or should I jus clamp it down?

Thanks,
Jack

Heat stove pipe?
The photo was not there when i first viewed your post.

This is a heat stove pipe. its function is to allow hot air that is heated by the exhaust manifold to enter the intake of the engine. This aides in heating the engine up faster so it will produce less emissions faster than if it didn;t have this system. Most people just remove it and toss it into the trash because it doesn't make any difference if you live in warm climate. With that said if you live in the snow it actually does heat your engine up faster thus you cab heater works quicker. . Anyhow if you like to replace it, its is a universal hose that can be found at any auto parts store. Fun Fact: it is also the same hose used on air cooled Porsche & VW cabin heater ducting.
